Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Guide

Buying a new home is an exciting milestone, and at Glenview Homes, we’re committed to making your move-in experience as seamless as possible. One of the most important steps before you receive your keys is the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)—a comprehensive walkthrough where you’ll familiarize yourself with your new home and ensure everything meets expectations.
Within approximately two weeks of your move-in date, we’ll schedule your PDI. This required inspection is your opportunity to document any damaged, missing, incomplete, or non-functioning items before you take possession. It’s also a chance to learn about key home systems, including ventilation, plumbing, and heating, so you feel confident operating and maintaining them from day one.
At Glenview Homes, we want you to step into your new home with peace of mind, knowing that every detail has been carefully reviewed.
What to Expect During Your PDI
The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) takes place at your new home and typically lasts about 90 minutes. A member of our construction team will be there to guide you through the home, review important details, and answer any questions.
During your walkthrough, we’ll complete a PDI form, which serves as a formal record of your home’s condition before you move in. If any issues are identified, they will be documented, and you’ll receive a copy for reference in case future warranty requests arise.
Key Steps:
- Home Introduction & Systems Overview: We’ll walk you through essential home systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, so you feel comfortable operating and maintaining them from day one.
- Review of Requested Changes & Upgrades: If you’ve selected any customizations or upgrades, we’ll review them with you to ensure they were completed as expected.
- Identifying Issues or Concerns: Any damages, missing features, or necessary adjustments will be noted and addressed as soon as possible.
How to Prepare:
- Bring a Checklist: Use our PDI checklist to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Take Notes: Bring a pen and paper (or use your phone) to jot down key details.
- Inspect Carefully: Examine surfaces, fixtures, and appliances under normal lighting conditions.
- Test Home Features: Check doors, windows, taps, and electrical outlets to confirm they are working properly.
- Ask Questions: This is your opportunity to learn about your new home, so don’t hesitate to ask.
- If you haven’t done so already, please visit Tarion’s website to create your My Home account and to review the helpful resources in their Learning Hub explaining the phases of warranty coverage. Helpful Links:
